Built by Farmers, Open to All
The Hessel Grange formed in 1916 as part of a national movement by farmers and ranchers seeking unity and a clear voice in a country undergoing change. As the tiny hamlet of Hessel grew — with a train station, a school, a meat market and a church — our unique building was constructed by local dairy farmers in 1948.
Today, the Hessel Grange 750 is organized as a local chapter of the California State Grange, a nonpartisan organization whose mission is to serve, steward, and teach the virtues of the land to children and the community. At the newly reorganized Hessel Grange, we embrace these values to foster fellowship, empower rural families, and cultivate resilience through grassroots action, education and community-building in West Sonoma County.
